What is your most vivid memory of nature?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for April 23, 2007:
It surprised me that the first three images which came to mind all involved water.
Being soaked in a downpour somewhere in South-East Asia and splashing along a sidewalk submerged in warm rainwater - not knowing what the water was hiding!
This memory took me to another in the Highlands of Scotland as a child, in the Grampians, where a flash flood caused by a summer storm raised the water so high on the river that the exit roads were cut off. We had to abandon transport and wade through the raging waters. It was exciting to see nature so powerful and made a deep impression.
And the third which came right after the others is of being newly in love and running down to the River Aare in Bern during a summer thunderstorm and dancing till we were soaked through in the thunder, lightening and rain.
Two really magical encounters with a whale and some dolphins are my all time most vivid memories in terms of feeling as if they only happened yesterday.
